DEFORESTATION IN AMAZONIAN CONSERVATION UNITS OF RONDONIA STATE STILL GOING ON!!!

Important conservation units in the Amazon forest are threatened by the advance of deforestation in Rondonia State, which registered greatest environmental degradation in September 2013.


Report released this week by Research Institute Imazon points out that the slash and burn of the forest follows apace in the State and among the degraded areas are reservations with special protection areas.

Of the 10 units of conservation more denuded of all the Amazon in the last month, seven are in the State of Rondônia, as you can see in the infographic below-click the red balls to see the size of the conservation areas destroyed in the period.

The felling of forests in the Amazon is directly related to the advancement of livestock sector which has received broad Government support and public funding.
The devastation in Rondônia and the replacement of forest for pastures and crops in the last two decades is visible by satellite and concerned environmentalists across the globe. Last year, the European Space Agency presented animation with aerial images showing 24 years of evolution of deforestation in the State. Access:
