The "Diário Oficial da União" (the Official Federal Government Gazette) published yesterday (26/06) the resolution 457, of the National Environmental Council ("CONAMA"), which allows individuals across the country may have temporary custody of up to 10 wild animals, since the screening centers of wild animals (Cetas) from "Ibama-Instituto Brasileiro do Meio Ambiente" does not have conditions to take care of the animal impounded.
In conjunction with the new resolution, the Ibama should publish, in 90 days, the so-called "Pet List": a list of wild animals that can be marketed.
According to article 5 of the resolution, also will not be allowed shelter of invasive species or listed in official lists of endangered Brazilian fauna, namely: those listed in national, state, or even of the species listed in annex I of the International Convention on trade of endangered species of Wild Fauna and Flora-CITES.
